Who was Jesus? A fanatical pretender to the throne? The son of God sent to reconcile men’s sins? Or, the leader of a failed revolution, executed in shame? Perhaps all things at once. This epic novel weaves multiple plots, subplots, and complex themes personalizing ALL the historic figures crisscrossing Jesus’ life.
Herod the Great, who wanted to be the Messiah. Antipas, manipulated by the Sandherin and Herodias. Zechariah’s scheme to create a Jewish Empire with John and Jesus at its epicenter.
One incredible drama after another unfolds in this giant exploration of previously unthinkable adventures of Jesus. Never have the roles of mother, uncle, aunt, and grandparents been so dramatically demonstrated against a background of voracious politics and religion.
These intense and original scenes luminously reveal every thought and word that Jesus spoke in a fresh interpretation, rendered courageously and superbly. This novel is a vast, world-class achievement that delves into forbidden territory without shame or timidity. I cannot think of another writer who has the depth, insight, and spiritual intellect that Walter Schenck has. Simply, he is the best.
From the Author
I love Biblical movies. Their power set against majestic scenery with colorful clothes, vivid dialogue, and memorable music move me to tears and reevaluations of who I am set amidst this world. I find the movies quite moving and entertaining, and, more important, they give me a visualization of the times as well as a multitude of scenarios within the realm of possibility.
I read the New Testament Gospels many times and have actually translated them from Koine Greek into a better English version than the International Version or any of the other Bible translations. However, as much as I love the Synoptic Gospels, I always wanted to do something extra with them. I wanted to present them as a movie maker presents his movies, but with the power of the written word Shiloh, Unveiled – Part One and Two strives to accomplish such an attribute for the reader – a vast composition of words that flow out of the pages to create a visual grandeur of the life and times not only of Jesus Christ, but all the people who lived within the pages of the gospels.
Indeed, this vast and complicated epic Biblical novel encompasses all the personalities whom he came in contact with. It is like the old Ben-Hur with the modernization of 300 Spartans and the latest Polish movie Quo Vadis and Showtime’s Spartacus. Sometimes my vanity permits me to imagine that it was my writing that showed them how to do it. Shiloh, Unveiled was written before Gibson’s “Passion” and the others. Like those movie, my two novels do not refrain from the honest depiction of the betrayal of Jesus and the trial of suffering that he underwent. There is absolutely nothing in the marketplace by any author that approaches the magnificence of this type of subject matter. I approached this spiritually influenced novel with the idea of presenting all the Biblical characters in their full array – and with the power of the Holy Ghost that is exactly what I achieved. Hundreds of nights it felt as if my fingers were guided by the power of Christ as words and ideas rushed out of me in profound dignity. My body was immersed with an electrifying power that is easily testified to upon reading the material. My friends say that somehow I am the strongest “old man” they ever met even though I sat glued to my chair for hours on end each and every day. I was so intensely engrossed with the writing that I barely slept during those writing years.
This Biblical novel presents all the personalities of the gospels within the full scope of the Roman Empire. I delve into the lives of the rulers of Judea, Rome, Egypt, etc. One incredible drama after another unfolds in this giant exploration of Jesus’ life: the environment, the political machinery of Roman and Judean rule, the behind-the-scenes unveiling of the religious authorities of Judea as well as an unveiling of Jesus’ followers as never before presented.
All characters have a voice depicted in movie action within the vast panorama of history. It is a voracious reading that luminously reveals every written word that Jesus shared in the gospels in a fresh and insightful interpretation. It has been said by others that this book offers a vast, world-class achievement. I have been called a profound mystic who immerses realism in an existential vein.
Concerning this book – “It is filled with on-the-mark details that will leave you breathless in their scope and perfect reflections of the biblical heroes – and anti-heroes — who walked or heard of Christ. Historically it is accurate. Spiritually – the blessing upon me has been incredible. I present these two tomes as proof.
Discover a new realization of Christ. Believe me, once you finish reading these two books you will know more about the times of Jesus than most scholars ever learned.
It is that good
